CIT 336 Student Web Site Criteria

Each student is responsible for her\his domain and\or subdomains. This criteria list applies to the student's site. Other domains or subdomains that may exist are beyond the scope of this document but their conformance is encouraged as well. Letters in parentheses represent the course objective.

  1. Web site demonstrates modular construction, includes a common navigation system and is fully operational. (A)
  2. Follows proper design principles including naming rules and visual appeal. (A)
  3. Site is content rich, including appropriate images (all under 40k). (A)
  4. Complete site validation: Markup is XHTML-Transitional or HTML5, CSS is 2.1 (CSS 3 is also acceptable). (A)
  5. Adherence to accessibility guidelines is demonstrated. [Use of an FAE check is encouraged] (B, F)
  6. Implement at least two external CSS style sheets for media types: Screen and Print. (A, F)
  7. Pages are dynamic and demonstrate a database-driven implementation. (C)
  8. Contain a working communications mechanism (e.g. contact form) accessible from all pages) (C)
  9. JavaScript/Ajax is implemented within the site. (D, F)
  10. Provides clear policies concerning copyright, privacy and terms of use. Policies are present in a common footer. (E)
  11. A colophon link is present in the footer that explains how usability and accessibility has be built in to the site. (B)

Remember that your websites must be complete and fully functional by the syllabus specified date. Be sure to fully test all pages after loading them!
